Bar tables

Looking for bar tables for a café, restaurant or hotel bar? A high table adds extra covers on a small floor area and gives a space an informal, lively atmosphere. Leta Meubelen makes bar tables and poseur tables with a top and base of your choice.

Match the table height to your bar chairs, and choose a stable base and a top that suits your bar, such as iroko or walnut. We make the height, size and finish to measure for your venue.

Which bar tables suit your hospitality venue?

The right bar tables match the way your guests stand, sit and move around. A bar table is a high table at which guests sit on a bar chair or bar stool, or simply stand. It makes a space feel more informal, adds extra covers on a small floor area and brings variation in height and a sense of energy to an interior.

Start with the function: will the table be used for drinks, a quick lunch or a full dinner at bar height? The longer guests stay, the more important a generous top, a comfortable bar chair and a footrest become. Bar tables are therefore a category in their own right within our hospitality tables.

Bar table or poseur table: what is the difference?

A bar table is designed for sitting at, with bar chairs or stools around it. A poseur table is a high table at which guests stand, for example during drinks, a reception or in the busy area of a café. The top of a poseur table is often smaller, so that more people can gather around it.

In practice, a high table in a hospitality setting is often used both standing and seated; the line is less clear-cut than the names suggest. If seating is the main purpose, match the table to the seat height of your bar chairs; for standing use, a stable, wide base is what matters most.

The right height and pairing with bar chairs

A bar table and a bar chair should be chosen as a pair. There must be enough legroom between the seat and the underside of the top, and a footrest on the chair or the table makes sitting for longer comfortable. Take a look at our collection of bar chairs and bar stools for this.

Also allow for circulation space. Around a table at bar height, guests need more room to get on and off their seats, and staff must be able to pass with a tray. So ideally, place them along a wall, by the window or in a separate bar area.

Hospitality bar tables in wood, stone and more

The top defines the character. Hospitality bar tables with a wooden top, such as M 500 – IROKO or M 570 WALNUT, add warmth and work well in a classic bar or brasserie. You will find more wood species among our wooden tables.

A stone top looks more luxurious and suits cocktail bars and hotel bars. Choose the material in line with the bar itself, so that the top, bar and bar chairs form a coherent whole. Because the top is closer to eye level, the finish is all the more noticeable.

The base of a bar table

A table at bar height needs an extra-stable base, because a longer column or longer legs act as a lever. A wide or heavy foot prevents the table from wobbling when guests lean on it. The name SPECIAL M 500 WALNUT – L 1332 shows the construction: a walnut top on base L 1332.

In our collection of table bases you will find various basic models. Because Leta makes bases to measure, we match the height to the bar chairs you choose.

Bar and poseur tables in cafés, restaurants and hotels

In cafés, high tables are ideal for busy evenings: they offer plenty of covers on a small footprint and keep the atmosphere lively. For inspiration, take a look at our café projects. In restaurants, they create an informal zone by the bar or the open kitchen.

Hotels use them at the lobby bar and in multifunctional spaces, for example as poseur tables during drinks or a presentation. That way, the same table serves for a cup of coffee during the day and a networking event in the evening.

What is the difference between a bar table and a poseur table?

A bar table is a high table for sitting at, with bar chairs around it. A poseur table is designed for standing at and often has a smaller top, so that more guests can fit around it. In the hospitality trade, the two terms are often used interchangeably.

Which bar chairs go with a bar table?

Bar chairs suit a bar table when the seat height matches the table height and there is enough legroom left over. A footrest and a backrest make sitting for longer comfortable. Leta Meubelen coordinates bar tables and bar chairs within a single project.

How much space do you need around a high table in a hospitality venue?

That depends on the number of guests and the walkways. A high table needs more space around it than a standard table, because guests have to get on and off their seats and staff must be able to pass with trays. Ideally, place high tables along a wall or window.

Is a poseur table suitable for a café or hotel bar?

Yes. In a café or hotel bar, a poseur table offers extra space for guests on a small floor area and works well for drinks, receptions and busy evenings. For guests who stay longer, a bar table with bar chairs is more comfortable.

What materials can a bar table be made from?

Wood is one option: the Leta Meubelen collection includes bar tables with iroko and walnut tops. Because tops and bases are made to measure, other materials and finishes can also be discussed, tailored to your bar and interior.

Can Leta make hospitality bar tables to measure?

Yes. Leta Meubelen makes bar tables to measure in height, size, shape, top and base, in its own 60,000 m² factory. Allow a lead time of 10–12 weeks from a final design. Explore the possibilities by appointment in the Eindhoven showroom.
