Which poufs suit your hospitality interior?

The best poufs for hospitality are sturdy enough for daily use, match the height of the surrounding furniture and are easy enough to move quickly. They complete a seating area without making the space feel heavy, as there is no backrest to block the view.

Consider in advance what role the pouf will play. Is it a permanent seat in a lounge, an extra seat for busy moments or mainly a decorative accent? That choice determines the shape, the firmness of the seat and the type of fabric.

What is a hospitality pouf, and what is a footstool?

A hospitality pouf is a freestanding seat without a backrest or armrests, usually upholstered and made for professional use in hotels, lounges and restaurants. A footstool is essentially the same, but more often serves as a footrest beside an armchair or as a low stool.

The collection includes both variants. MOJO TABURE has the character of a stool, whereas MONICA BENCH is more like a low bench for two people. Most other models simply carry POUF or PUF in their name.

A pouf for the hotel lobby and lounge

In a hotel lobby, a pouf is ideal for keeping a seating area flexible. Guests pull one up themselves when they are in a larger group, and staff put it back after a busy spell. Because there is no backrest, the lobby stays open and uncluttered. Our hotel projects show how seating areas are put together in practice.

In restaurants and cafés, poufs work best in lounge areas, at a waiting area by the entrance or in a children’s corner. They are less suitable at a dining table, where guests soon miss the support of a backrest.

Shape and height: round, square or elongated

Round models create a soft, informal look and can be used from any side. Square and rectangular versions align better with sleek sofas and tables and are easier to place in a row or against a bench. Elongated versions double as a small bench.

Match the seat height to the surrounding furniture. A pouf that serves as a footrest beside an armchair needs to be lower than one that acts as a full seat next to a sofa. For bespoke pieces, we adapt the dimensions to your layout.

Fabric, rope and finish

The upholstery largely determines how long a pouf keeps looking good. Choose a hard-wearing fabric that can withstand intensive use and regular cleaning, especially in a lobby where guests also put their bags or coats on it.

Alongside upholstered versions, there are models with rope, such as SOGA ROPE, and wooden variants. These have a more robust character and suit natural interiors well. A pouf is also an effective way to introduce an accent colour, for example the colour of your logo or bar.

Combining with lounge chairs, sofas and side tables

Poufs come into their own in a seating area. Place one or two next to lounge chairs, combine them with a sofa or group them around a side table. This creates a layout you can adapt to each occasion.

Use the same fabric as on the armchairs for a calm, cohesive look, or choose a contrasting colour to make the pouf stand out as an accent. This category belongs to the wider hospitality chairs collection, so you can coordinate all your seating in one go.

What is the difference between a pouf and a footstool?

A pouf and a footstool are both seats without a backrest or armrests. A pouf is usually upholstered and serves as a standalone seat; a footstool is more often used as a footrest beside an armchair or as a low stool. In hospitality, the two terms are often used interchangeably.

Is a hospitality pouf suitable as a permanent seat?

Yes, for a short to medium stay in a lounge or lobby. Because a pouf has no backrest, it is less suitable at a dining table or for a long evening. So combine poufs with lounge chairs or a sofa in the same seating area.

How do you use a pouf in a hotel lobby?

As a flexible extra seat alongside armchairs and sofas. Guests pull up a pouf when they are in a larger group, and because there is no backrest, the lobby stays open and uncluttered. Choose a hard-wearing fabric, as lobby furniture sees intensive use.

Which pouf shape suits a sleek sofa?

Usually a square or rectangular model. Straight lines echo the shape of a sleek sofa and are easy to place beside or in front of it. A round pouf can also serve as a deliberate, soft contrast in an interior with lots of straight lines.

Can poufs be made in a fabric or colour of your choice?

Yes. Leta Meubelen makes every pouf to measure, with you choosing the fabric, colour, shape and dimensions. Production takes place in our own 60,000 m² bespoke workshop. Once the design is approved, the lead time is 10–12 weeks.

How many poufs should you place in a lounge area?

That depends on the space and the number of fixed seats. One or two poufs per seating area of armchairs or a sofa is often enough: extra capacity without losing circulation space. Leave enough room around each pouf so guests can stand up easily.
